HippoDams for Ditches, Drains and Dykes

A HippoDam has excellent profiling to uneven ground and provides a strong defence against water ingress. Installing a pair of HippoDams on either side of a work area in a ditch/drain will facilitate dewatering and provide access for inspections, repairs and other temporary works.

As part of the National Grid’s Hinkley Point C Connection Project in Somerset, several contractors have deployed HippoDams to enable the construction (and subsequent removal) of temporary access routes (culverts/bridges) across some of the Somerset Levels’ network of rhynes (ditches), as access to working areas will otherwise be impossible.

Please contact us with details of your ditch/drain project, together with some information on the local environment, e.g. water depth, watercourse width, etc., to explore how a HippoDam solution could assist you in achieving your objectives.
