Silt Curtains, also known as turbidity barriers or sediment curtains, are flexible barriers that act as a containment system to prevent the spread of silt, sediment, and other suspended particles in water bodies. They are primarily deployed in areas where soil erosion, dredging operations, or construction activities may cause significant environmental impact by introducing excessive sedimentation.

Potamii’s range of HippoSkirt™ Silt Curtains is meticulously crafted using durable materials that withstand harsh environmental conditions, ensuring long-lasting performance. The curtains consist of a series of interconnected floats and a skirt made of geotextile fabric. The floats keep the curtain suspended on the water's surface, while the low-permeable skirt (or impermeable skirt, depending on your requirements) hangs beneath the water, effectively containing sediment and preventing its dispersion.

By strategically deploying HippoSkirt™ Silt Curtains, controlled work areas can be created, containing sediment and minimising its impact on adjacent ecosystems.
